We want to welcome you as our guest and hope you will be with us every opportunity. You may be wondering who we are and what we believe?

Before His death, Jesus promised to build His church, Matthew 16:18. On the cross at Mount Calvary Jesus was crucified for the sins of mankind, 2 Corinthians 5:21. His blood was shed for the remission of sins, Matthew 26:28. Christians have been redeemed by the blood of Christ, Ephesians 1:7. The church that Jesus promised to build is composed of individuals who have heard the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4), believed Jesus is the Son of God (Matthew 16:16), repented of their sins (Acts 17:30), confessed Jesus before men (Acts 8:37), and have been baptized to be saved (Mark 16:16).

The people here at Westside are ordinary individuals. We have jobs and families. We face the same temptations and trials that you face. However, we did what the Apostle Paul did, "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me" (Galatians 2:20). We  received the grace of God that brings salvation, Titus 2:11. We do not claim to be perfect but strive to obey our God.

We understand the Bible is the inspired Word of God, 2 Timothy 3:16-17. It is described as the perfect law of liberty, James 1:26. Since the Bible is the complete revelation of God to man (2 Peter 1:3) we have no need for any other doctrine. We have no creed books, we do not follow the doctrines of mankind. We are Christians and only Christians. We have one book and that is the Bible.

Our worship is designed to be pleasing to God, John 4:24. We will have men who lead us in singing songs of praise to God (Ephesians 5:19), we pray to our God in heaven (Acts 2:42), each Sunday we remember the Lord’s death around the Lord’s Table (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:24-26)and a time is set aside for preaching from the Bible. As Christians we are also commanded to give as we have prospered, 2 Corinthians 9:5-11.

Finally, we are interested in your soul. Recent surveys have shown, most people believe "churches" have lost their mission. Some "churches" have become gloried social clubs, others are too rigid and impersonal. The church Christ has a spiritual purpose, the saving of souls (Acts 2:47). Since we are baptized into the same body, the body of Christ (Galatians 3:27), we are interested in each other. The church is not a gathering of familiar strangers but His family striving to live right with God. It is our hope you have the same interest. We would like for you to do the following things:

bulletFill out a visitors card and either place it in the collection plate or give it to one of the men as you leave.
bulletOpen your Bible and see if the truth is being taught.
bulletStay around and let us get to know you better.
bulletCome to our Bible Classes and feel free to make comments or ask questions.

If you have any questions, let us know. We can arrange a convenient time to sit down and study together.

Let me leave you with this last thought. The value of the church can be seen in its cost, the very blood of Christ (Acts 20:28). It is not in the building, its pews, its collection plate, or its land. A church is not great because of its size, its entertainment, or its social standing. None of those things matters in the long run. What will matter is whether we have obeyed God, whether we have loved others as we should, and whether our loved ones will go to heaven. We at the Westside church of Christ, are God fearing, Bible believing, and joyously living people.

Sincerely,

Dennis Tucker
