The Fish And Water

The story goes that a fox urged the fish to move to dry land so they would be safe from the fishermen's nets they dreaded.  The fish replied if they were afraid in their natural element, they would be even more vulnerable out of it, and would then surely die.  (They would also walk right into the fox's plans for a hearty meal.)

Satan is busy with that same ploy today.  We look at all the worldly enticements today, and think:  What a struggle it is to live according to the word of God in order to gain heaven.  Satan softly whispers, "Why not just leave the church and you wouldn't have to worry about all those restrictions?"  And some listen to him!  If it is hard when we have fellow Christians to encourage us (Hebrews 10.24-25, 37-39),  what hope could we possibly cling to if we then turn our backs on the church and think we could do better on our own?  Without Christ and His word???

Think about it!  What would surely be our end result? --Donald P. Ames
