5 Things People Don’t Want To Know When talk in the religious
world today about salvation. Some
have different opinions on what they need for salvation.
Sadly instead of going to God’s Word they instead use their own logic
to make up their own ideas. They
withdraw from God’s Word and put their own ideas in.
Jesus points out in that few go down the narrow way (Matthew
7:13-14). Thus leading to Jesus
pointing out some sad but yet powerful words of a need for obedience.
In Matthew 7:21
Jesus points out that many will not be saved.
Those that will be saved are those who follow and obey God’s word.
Many do not want to hear words that they may not be saved.
It is a point that Jesus was trying to stress and still is today.
Many when it comes to salvation have their own interpretation of what
salvation is and what they need to do. They
have left God and turned to their own desires or understandings.
There are sobering thoughts that Jesus points out that many who think
they are saved and do many good works may still not be saved. I.
Not
Everyone will be Saved Everyone loves to talk about the
love of God. They love to talk about
how God wants all to be saved. This
thought is absolutely (II Peter 3:9).
God wants all to come to repentance.
God wants all to make a change. However
what is this change? God wants all
to change to His will (Matthew 7:21). Sadly, many good folks fall into
this category. It is a reality that
many need to face and hear. Good
friends, neighbors, and relatives that have not hear and obeyed God’s will,
will not be saved (Luke 14:26). II.
Every
Religious Person Will Not be Saved Many who profess and talk in the
name of Jesus will not be saved (Luke
6:46). Many who cast out demons
will not be saved (Matthew 7:22-23).
They did great works but still lacked something. They have a zeal for God
but they lack knowledge (Romans 10:1-4). III.
Only
those who obey God will be Saved We must hear and obey Jesus.
Notice the conclusion of the sermon (Matthew
7:24-27). We need to be wise builders. We
must build on these words Jesus presented in this great sermon and obey God the
Father. We must obey the gospel of Christ.
The same message that converted those on the day of Pentecost heard this
message and obeyed (Acts 2:38). We need to
be preaching Christ throughout the world teaching belief and baptism are both
necessary components for salvation. We must enter by the narrow way (Col.
3:5-8;12-17). It is a difficult
way. However the way is doable and
has great rewards. The end will be
worth following this way. We need to
be following the words of Christ. IV.
That
Day is Coming Many will come unto THAT DAY (II Peter 3:10-14).
Many are not ready. As we
just pointed out many have not yet heard and obeyed God’s will.
It is a day that many do not want to see.
The day that the world will cease to exist.
The day the earth will come to an end.
A day as a thief in the night. On that day there will be two
classes of people. There will be the
Saved and The Lost (Rev. 20:11-15).
There is no in between state. There
will be those who have obeyed God and those that have turned away from God.
We need to ask ourselves of which
class we are in? Are of the class
that will be saved. Those that have
heard the warning and obeyed the words of Christ or those that have neglected
the words of Christ and have decided to not obey God and the words of warnings
have no effect. V.
Saddest
Words There are words that those who have
not heard on that day that will be
the most saddest words. Those that
have not obeyed Christ will hear words of departure.
Nobody wants to hear them but it will happen if we do not obey (Matthew
7:23). We are workers of
lawlessness if we do not obey God the Father. We in fact need both the Father and
Son (II John 9).
The question again is will we do everything in our power to avoid hearing
those words? 5
