God’s Love &
Homosexuality I
don’t normally watch many of the award shows on television. They tend to be
boring and I really don’t care which movies wins which awards. However, while
channel hopping I saw a few minutes of the Oscars. I saw where the movie
“Milk” won an award for original screenplay. This movie is about the first
homosexual in Let
me say that the leftist in My
opposition to homosexuality is not based on hatred, but on love. I want everyone
to go to heaven and any one in sin is lost. “For the wages of sin is death”
(Romans 6.23a). This includes the drunkard, the idolater, the liar, and anyone
else in sin. I certainly hope to be loving and not hateful to those that
disagree with me. On the other hand, I have to realize that sin must be labeled
sin and not an “alternative lifestyle.” The reason I am opposed to
homosexuality is because God is opposed to it. There are numerous passages in
both the Old and New Testament to condemn homosexuality. Romans 1.27 speak of
men lusting after other men and doing what is shameful. Paul in the letter to
the church at As
far as God loving the homosexual, I wonder how far this logic will go. How about
God loving the adulterer, or the pedophile, or the murderer? I am afraid by
“love” they mean accept, and those are two different things. I may love my
children but I may not accept their behavior. It is true God loves everyone.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten So, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3.16).
There you have it, God loves the world. That does not mean God will accept the
homosexual, the murderer, the pedophile, or any one else in sin. On
the other hand what about their love for God? It is interesting that God is not
mentioned until they want to talk about His love and our hatred. Then we hear
about how we need to be loving as our Father in heaven is loving. What about
their love for Him? “You are my friends if you do whatever I command you”
(John 15.14). “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14.15). “For
this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments” (1 John 5.3a). Love is
not a one way street. Those that talk about God’s love need to think about
their love for Him. As
far as equal rights are concerned, we are all protected by the laws of this
country. Homosexuals are not talking about equal rights but special rights. They
want to be recognized as a minority in our country and receive minority
protection. They want homosexual marriages to become the law in every state,
spousal benefit, adoption privileges, and other benefits. They are not talking
about tolerance, but acceptance. We should never accept such as normal for it is
not. – Dennis Tucker |
