No Surprised Ones in Heaven

The Bible clearly teaches that there is a great day of judgment coming (2 Cor. 5:10). From that point it will either be heaven or hell. Sadly, there will be many surprised folks in hell, but none in heaven. Mark it down, no one in heaven will have amazingly slipped through with some kind of "wow, how did I get here" reaction. My point is this: heaven is for God’s pilgrims who have their sights on the prize and have given their lives in faithful service to the Lord.

God tells us: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness..." (Mt. 5:6). "...(God) is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Heb. 11:6). "Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able" (Lk. 13:24). "I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me" (Pro. 8:17). "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find;" (Mt. 7:7). "...be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;" (2 Pt. 3:14).

These few verses show our need for diligence in pleasing God. Are you attempting the bare minimum? Do you think you can pull one over on the Lord? If you have never obeyed the gospel, or if you’ve obeyed and are indifferent (not fully committed), then straighten up and fly right. Don’t be surprised at the judgment!— David McPherson
