Out of Your Routine? The first week of July was kind of strange. More than once I heard people talk about being confused as to which day of the week it was. The reason for such confusion was due to July 4th being on a Wednesday. Most had the day off so Tuesday seemed like Friday. Thursday was another Monday and Friday was, well, Friday. So we had two mini weeks. When people get out of their routine things just don’t seem right. In the case of July 4th no body was complaining. We will all take Wednesday off when we can get it. We will adjust. There are routines we need to work on developing and some we need to break. We need to have a regular routine of reading and meditating on the word of God. The people at Berea were more fair-minded or noble minded then those at Thessalonica in that they searched the scriptures daily, Acts 17.11. Do you feel as if something is wrong when you miss a day reading your Bible? We need to have a regular routine in getting ready for services and being there on time. Some people attend every Sunday morning but are hit and miss on Sunday night and Wednesday night. I know there are various reasons why some can not be at services every time but some times it may be a routine they never developed. Some people are always late or just barely on time. Emergencies come up such as sickness, a flat tire, but those are unusual situations. Most people that are late are late on a regular basis. Why? Because they have developed a routine that causes them to be late. If you are late when you get up at 7:3i0, get up at 7:00 am. The brethren at Thessalonica was told to pray without ceasing, 2 Thess. 3.10. While we need to guard against doing things simply by route we need to pray daily. It will make us stronger and help those we are praying for. Do you feel something is not quite right when you have a meal without saying a prayer? The key is to develop good habits and break the bad ones. – Dennis Tucker |
