Rosie and Donald

For a number of weeks there has been a running feud between "The Donald" and Rosie O’Donnell. Donald Trump controls or owns the Miss USA Pageant. Everyone except those on a deserted island knows that Miss Kentucky, Tara Conner, is the reigning Miss America. Miss Conner got into serious trouble in New York City. Photo’s of her drinking, while being underage, and other exploits almost got her fired. Donald Trump held a press conference with Tara Conner giving her one more chance to retain her title. She is to undergo drug treatment and act within the moral guidelines of the pageant.

This brought a rather rash response from Rosie. She blasted Donald Trump for being a hypocrite. He has divorced his previous wives and committed adultery. Apparently Rosie feels Donald is a hypocrite and has no right to demand anything from Tara Conner. In response Donald fired away at Rosie O’Donnell. While not specifically talking about O’Donnell being a homosexual, he did call her a fat slob and loser.

I don’t know when I have heard people be more right and wrong at the same time. Rosie is right about Donald’s infidelity. At the same time Donald is right about Rosie’s lifestyle. Both are wrong in the eyes of God. The Bible condemns putting away one’s spouse for just any cause, "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery." (Matthew 19.9) It also condemns homosexuality, "For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the naturally use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due" (Romans 1.26-27).

Both are wrong in their lifestyle and right about the other person’s lifestyle. However, Donald is not wrong because of Rosie and vice versa. They are wrong because God says so. The moral authority of Donald is not himself or his perfect life but the word of God. D.T.
