UNDERCOVER CHRISTIANITY

A story is told about a Christian who got a job as a lumber- jack.  The workers had a reputation for being ungodly.  A friend, learnign that the man had been hired, told him, "if those lumber- jacks ever find out that you're a Christian, you're going to be in for a hard time!"

After a year or so, the man decided to return home for a visit. While in town, his friend asked him, "Well, did they give you a hard time because you're a Christians?"  "Oh no, not at all," the man replied.  "They didn't give me a bit of trouble -- they never found out!"

That is certainly not the kind of "Christian" we read about in the Bible!  What use would you be if your family, neighbors, and coworkers were completely unaware of your relationship to Christ?  "Undercover Christianity" is a contradiction of terms. How could we never do or say anything to give evidence of our identification with Him?

The Lord expects us as His followers to live for Him.  Take time, just here, to read Matt. 5:13-16.

Being a Christian is not a secret to be kept but rather a truth to be told!  Will you be seen as a light in the world of darkness or will you blend into your surroundings?  (If you were being tried in a court of law for being a Christian,  would there be enough evidence to convict you of such? JWS).  ---- Shane Williams in The Lilbourn Light, Vol. 10, No. 3, July, 2009.
