Were Our Forefathers Deists?

Our forefathers were not deists as some in society would have you believe. Encircling The Liberty Bell, which was cast in 1753 and  rang out July 8,1776 to announce the public reading of The Declaration of Independence, is imprinted "Lev. 25:10 -Proclaim Liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof." Samuel Adams, a signer of The Declaration wrote in his will that he resigned his soul to the Almighty Being who gave it and committed his body to the dust "relying on the merits of Jesus Christ for the pardon of my sins." There are too many quotes from the forefathers for space to allow all of them.
The Continental Congress on Sept 11, 1777 ordered the importation of 20,000 Bibles for the American troops. (Isn't it ironic there is currently a controversy over mentioning God and having prayers at soldiers' funerals?)
Benjamin F. Morris wrote a book in 1864 titled: The Christian Life and Character of The Civil Institutions of The United States. It has been reprinted by American Vision, Inc. A copy can be ordered from them if any one desires to learn the real truth concerning the religious influence on our civil institutions. Their address is: 3150 Florence Road, Suite 2, Powder Springs, George 330127-5385 or

One needs only to visit our public buildings in Washington, D.C. to see further evidence. The Supreme Court building has multiply examples. Moses is depicted holding two tablets of stone with the Ten Commandments and other carvings have the Roman numerals I - X representing the Ten Commandments. The Library of Congress has statues depicting Apostle Paul and Moses. There are scripture quotes from Micah 6:8, Psalms 19:1, Proverbs 4:7, and Leviticus 19:18 on the walls. At the Capital complex in the House Chambers above where the American flag hangs, engraved in marble are the words "In God We Trust." Also 23 marble relief portraits hang over the gallery doors of the House depicting historical figures. Eleven on each side look to the middle which is a relief depicting Moses.
Again there are too many examples to list them all in this letter.  Americans need to do their own research concerning our history and not rely on the few who want to remove God from our society and take away our right to express our public belief in God.
