Sermon Through Song: Jesus, The Cross, & Salvation Introduction:
Phillip was called to preach to the Ethiopian eunuch. Acts 8.26-39. This is
taken from Isaiah. Scripture
This
passage introduces the servant of God. He would be exalted (12); before that He
would suffer (14); through His death He would purify His people and quiet the
leaders of that day. #

167 We Saw Thee Not
Scripture
The
Jews would not accept Him or the preaching of the Gospel. Why? Their vision of
the Messiah was one of a victorious commander; Jesus came as a man. The son of a
carpenter; He had to be identified by Judas. They did not see His deity. #

413 I Believe In Jesus
Scripture
He
did not defend Himself; as a lamb that is silent before the shearer so Jesus was
before His accusers. His purpose was to die as the sinless sacrifice for
mankind. #

564 Follow Me
Scripture
God’s
reaction: He turned His face away from Jesus. However, through His death Jesus
overcame the power of death; the power of sin; the power of satan; and went to
prepare a place for us. What
did this offer to the Eunuch? 1) an explanation of Isaiah; 2) knowledge that
Jesus came and live as a sinless man; 3) the penalty of sin is death; 4) Jesus
by the counsel of God died in our place; 5) Jesus reigns today; 6) we can be
saved by His death. Invitation
