The Two Adams Psalms 8.3-9 Introduction:
Psalm 8.3-9 speaks of God’s creation and man’s place in that creation.
Hebrews 2.6-8 the writer
quotes part of Psalm 8 in speaking of Jesus taking on the body of flesh and
living among man. Man was created by
God in His image; possessing a physical body which houses the soul.
The physical body becomes frail and old, 2
Corinthians 4.17-18 puts together the physical and spiritual side of man.
It is at death the body and soul is separated.
Paul continues in 2 Corinthians
5.1,5. There
are two Adams spoken of in the Bible;
Genesis 2.18-25 and 1 Corinthians
15.44- 49. I)
The First Adam A)
Was the head of the home, Genesis 3.16c. 1.
Every home has to have a head. 2.
The ultimate head of every home is God. 3.
Man is subject to God and so is the woman. 4.
Man is part of the home and woman is part of the home. B)
Adam was alone before he slept 1.
There was no one suitable; no help meet, no companion, Genesis
2.18 2.
Animals were not created in the image of God. C)
In his sleep Adam’s side was opened, Genesis 2.21 1.
It was God’s design, His plan to put Adam to sleep. 2.Only
God could have created the woman. D)
Eve was formed from Adam’s rib, Genesis 2.22 1.
Both Adam and Eve were created by God. 2.
God used part of Adam to create Eve. E)
There was one woman for Adam 1.
Adam had n o choice; there was only one woman! 2.Talk
about pre-arranged marriages, this was it for Adam. F)
Adam gave the woman a man that honored man, Genesis 2.23 1.
For she was taken out of man. 2.
The name meant something. Today when
people get married the woman takes on the name of the man. G)
Given a natural law of procreation 1.
By being one flesh they would have children 2.
The only exception was Jesus H)
All their children were in their family 1.
Cain, Abel, Seth, and the rest were all part of their family. 2.
What other family could they have been a part of? II)
The Second Adam (Jesus) A)
Is the head of the church, Ephesians 1.22-23; Colossians 1.18 1.
The church can have only one head. 2.
A body can not have a multitude of heads without being a freak. B)
He was alone before His death, John 19.17-18; Mark 15.34 1.
No one else was on that cross. 2.
Jesus and Jesus alone shed His blood for mankind. C)
In death His side was opened, John 19.32-34 1.
It was His blood that was shed on the cross. D)
The church was purchased with His blood, Acts 20.28 1.
The blood of animals was not able to establish His church. 2.
Only the blood of a perfect sacrifice was able to cleanse man. To wash away his
sins. E)
The second Adam (Jesus) built one church, Matthew 16.16-18 1.
Jesus did not create of build a multitude of churches. 2.
No such things as Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, etc. F)
Received a name that honored Christ 1.
“Christian” is used in Acts 11.26 2.
Used in Acts 26.28 by King Agrippa to
describe the disciples of Christ. 3.
No such things as a hyphenated Christian. G)
Given a spiritual law of procreation 1.
Matthew 28.18ff by preaching the word

One does not inherit their religion, but is taught the Gospel of Christ. H)
