Two Adams In Contrast, The

Romans 5.12-21

Introduction: In the first lesson we looked at the similarities between the Adam in Genesis 1 through 3 and Jesus.  Adam was the head of the home; Jesus is the head of His church.  Adam was alone; Jesus died alone.  God created one woman for Adam; Jesus built just one church.  Adam’s side was opened; Jesus side was pierced with a spear.

In this lesson we want to see the contrast between the two Adams .  Paul refers to most of these in Romans 5.12-21 with some from other passages.

FThe First Adam

1. Wanted to become like God, Genesis 3.4-6

            a. He was not willing to live in the Garden of Eden and take care of God’s creation.

            b. The problem is he was not God nor would he become like God in   his sin. Hebrews 2.7

            c. Man’s greatest idolatry is self worship.  Pharaoh, Nebuchadnezzar, King Agrippa in Acts 12, and the list goes on.

FThe Second Adam

            d. A created being can have an eternal soul, Psalm 8.4a

FThe Second Adam

2. Is the creator, Colossians 1.15-17

            a. As deity, Jesus is not a created being; He is eternal, from the very   beginning. Psalm 8.4b-5

            c. As deity, He is all powerful, John 1.1-3, 14.
