What Do We Know About Satan? Introduction:
People bow down to worship all kinds of false gods. They even worship satan. The
Occult and Satanism is practiced by numerous people. This brings about the
question “Who is satan and what is so bad about him? Is he simply a rival to
God, another god, or is he something else? I)
Facts About Satan A)
First seen in the Garden of Eden, Genesis 3.1ff 1.
Described as a serpent and cunning. 2.
He came and spoke to Eve, did not possess her or scare her but talked with her. B)
He is not a “god” 1.
Does not possess the attributes of deity. a.
He is a created being b.
Fell from heaven, Luke 10.18 2.
Does not have the power to overcome God, Revelation

God permitted satan to test Job. 1.12 a.
Satan was limited by what God allowed him to do. b.
This speaks to God’s permissive will verses His expressed will. II)
Terms Applied To Satan A)
The tempter, Matthew 4.3 1.
Temptation is that which appeals to us, works on the inside, 1 John 2.15-17; 1 Corinthians 7.2,5 2.
Process of temptation – think about it, desire it, plan to do it, then do it.
a. There are many different temptations but all goes to lust and pride

Satan is cunning B)

The prince of evil spirits
a. This points out that evil spirits exist, demons exist.
b. This power was exhibited in the people they possessed 2.
Satan has his servants and messengers. 3.
Literally the word Beelzebub means the Lord of dung or filth C)
The enemy, Matthew 13.39 (the parable of the tares) 1.
He is not your friend but enemy. He is the enemy of God, of good, and

Common tricks

Stalking for prey, seeking people to destroy. A lion by its nature will kill
when it is hungry. A number of years ago at a theme park people were driving
through the animal exhibit. For some reason they started to roll down their
windows. The ranger got out and started to yell at the people to roll up their
windows. He was killed by the lions. 2.
Satan by his nature wants us to be lost and will devour us if possible. C)
